About

Annalene Rautenbach started her interest in photography at a very young age, with a completely manual camera that required many fingers to focus, take a light meter reading, and set the f-stop. The foundation of a shooting a completely manual camera on film and later developing her own black and white prints, laid the foundation for the artistic element that would dominate her work.

Leaving her art for a while, she travelled the world visiting a total of 96 countries, and 6 continents. The exotic location offered new subject matter to photograph and her love for travel photography was born. While working as a desktop publisher, her digital camera photography became an integral part of her work. This lead to numerous photo assignments for various companies. She started working as a wedding photographer’s assistant in 2006.  She quickly became a student of human behaviour and honing her skills at triggering the shutter at just the right moment. With a greater understanding of light, she developed her signature style of making the best of every situation.

Having worked in publishing for a long time, she has a diverse range of digital skills in photo editing, layout and design.

In 2002 she joined AFO photographic club. The exposure to world class nature and landscape photographers has helped her improve her technique and develop her own style. She decided to concentrate more on people and portrait photography. With her extensive knowledge in Photoshop and the control the digital camera gives a photographer, she aims to be the kind of photographer that renders photos art.  In 2008 she achieved her APSSA credentials and has bronze and silver  awards for in 2008,2009 and 2010 Fuji Professional Awards.

Her photographic style is romantic/photojournalistic. She has her own studio in Pretoria, and loves the art of a studio potograph. Annalene relies on her skills to find the beauty in the person in front of her camera and work with them to create authentically beautiful images.
